Food photo checker for video ads and Reels

Choose a photo of a dish, drink or bake to see if it’s ready for a vertical video ad. The checker looks at size, sharpness and light, then shows how the photo crops to a tall Reels or TikTok frame. It runs in your browser, so the photo isn’t uploaded.

Your photo stays on your device. It’s checked in your browser and never uploaded.

What the checker looks at

  • Size: a full-screen vertical video is 1080 pixels wide. The checker measures the tallest 9:16 crop of your photo against that. Photos saved from social media or a website are often shrunk, so send the original file when you can.
  • Crop: a wide photo loses its sides in a tall frame. Use the slider to see what stays in view.
  • Sharpness: it scores the sharpest part of the photo, so a crisp dish on a soft background still passes.
  • Light: it flags photos where even the brightest parts are dim, and photos where large areas are blown out to white. A dark, moody photo with good highlights passes.

Why keep the food away from the edges?

Instagram, TikTok and Facebook place the account name, caption and buttons over the bottom and right side of a vertical video, with a header at the top. The shaded areas in the preview are approximate. Keep the food and any important text near the middle of the frame.

Common questions

Is a phone photo good enough?

Usually, yes. Modern phones shoot well over 1080 pixels wide. Steady hands and good light matter more than the camera. The photo guide has a short checklist.

Why did my photo fail the size check?

Messaging apps, social networks and website builders shrink photos. Find the original in your camera roll or ask whoever took it for the full-size file.

Do you keep my photo?

No. The checks run on your device, and the photo isn’t sent to Frontreel or anyone else.
